[he holds up his mangled hand...makes a face and holds up the other one instead. counts on his fingers]
One: find out why this is going on and how to stop it. And two: if she does go all genocidal, to focus on me because I'm the one most able to defend themselves if she gets all TK-spammy.
We're going to have to make her face it, whether she likes it or not. Unlike everyone else, we aren't secretly little kids; we know what we have to do to save the world.
Anyway, everyone knows that the bad guys with a sympathetic goal are the ones everyone likes once the dust settles.
I don't care what you were expecting, Julian! We're all we have to count on. You don't get to make a call like that on your own, and you sure as hell don't get to do it without telling anyone what your plan is!
If I had told you, you'd all stop me. And then we wouldn't know what I know now and we wouldn't be able to stop her! I don't know if you hadn't noticed, but this version of Jean Grey isn't willing to make a sacrifice!
Or we would have let you go while being around to make sure it didn't get to the point where you were in a coma for a week! Or we could have come up with an entirely different plan that didn't end horribly.
[makes an incredibly frustrated face because he knows there's absolutely no point in continuing this]
It's not like you're going to run off and tell Magneto, are you?
[he rakes his hand through his hair]
Look, we all have moments where we think how much we hate what is going on with us. It's how we deal with them that's important. She doesn't deal with them, she pretends she doesn't have them and dumps them all on some other personality she's gone and created ... or the Phoenix Force, or whatever. This crap hurts my head. But everything negative about her life, about us, she dumps on that instead of dealing with it herself. Then she can pretend it's not her: it's someone else that is just using her as a meat puppet.
It is her, and she is never going to control it until she faces up to the fact that you know what? We hate what's going on with us. That she dislikes us, despite being part of the same species, because we don't trust her. And until she faces that, we're going to have a cosmic entity doing what she wants and won't acknowledge.
[raises a hand with two crossed fingers, then drops it and sighs]
That makes sense. She loses control over it when she gets angry, which is when those feelings probably bubble up the most. Let's just hope she works that out before this gets worse.
